About the Firm

Hi, I am Lisa Maxwell and I am the Director of Maxwell Law.  I have numerous years of legal experience, having been practicing law since I was admitted to the bar in 2003. 

I started this practice with the idea of creating an inviting space for clients, whilst enabling me to have long lasting relationships and carve out the time to give proper attention to resolving my client's legal needs.

At Maxwell Law we have 3 amazing staff members, who help keep the wheels of the firm turning.  We have a legal assistant, Hannah who is learning the ropes in the Masterton office from our experienced legal assistant, Jenni.  We also have our staff solicitor Ineke who joined us as a junior student and is now a qualified solicitor.  Ineke is based in the Wellington office.

If you want to know a bit more about me:

My journey into legal practice began in a small NZ general practice in Paraparaumu dealing with relationship property, conveyancing, Family Court work, trusts and estates.  After a few years I left NZ for London on my overseas adventure.

In London I thrived in the litigation and negotiation environment of child protection law, acting for social workers in very interesting and often complex cases.  Whilst abroad I began a personal journey into investment property ownership in NZ.

I came back to New Zealand in 2016 and entered a general law practice again.  I renewed my love of the ever changing property market, my satisfaction in relationship property division cases and estate law and the joy I continue to have in understanding my clients to provide solutions for their individual needs.
